I'm creating a web-based dashboard to display KPI reports and other relevant data in a more visually pleasing way. I've chosen to use ASP.NET MVC 4 to create the web application and the data I need to present is stored on a remote Oracle database.

I've already created a basic web application that is currently displaying an interactive table of bogus (hard coded) data.

The problem I'm having is getting data from the Oracle database. I'm not sure where to start and how to even get that data to be displayed on the web application.

I've been researching this for the past few weeks and everything I've read on the subject is either for building a database, writing to a database or creating tables in the database from an MVC application, which is not what I'm needing to do.

I just need to retrieve data from the database and display it on the web application.

If anyone could direct me on how to do this step by step (including making the connection to the db, building a data model, changing the config files, and displaying the data), I would greatly appreciate it. I'm seriously at a loss here and I only have so much time to work on this project.

Current System Info: I'm using ASP.NET MVC4 in Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 on Windows 7. The Oracle database is Oracle 11g. We are using IIS for the web server.
